Ravenclaw, 1990 - 1997 (OP31)
Earned nine "Outstanding" O.W.L.s the year before Harry, Ron, and Hermione took theirs. He assured Harry and Ron that the credit belonged solely to Baruffio's Brain Elixir, but Hermione confiscated it before the boys could buy any -- quite possibly saving them a trip to the hospital wing in the process, considering the general quality of brain stimulants circulating that year.
Bio Before Hogwarts:
Edwards is the youngest in his family, and out of the three children, the only boy. His parents stressed academia, as they were both Ravenclaws. He was encouraged at a young age to give into his knowledge, to ask questions. To engage into debate.
Before he was old enough to go to Hogwarts, he lived in his parents small library, reading what he could get his hands on. Wether it was fiction or non fiction, Muggle books or Magical, he read them. He had a desire to know. If there was something he didn't understand that was brought up in a discussion he would get out any book that might tell him.
He wasn't an outdoors kid. He was happy and content to just curl up with a book, play chess, and also observe. His older sisters did try and bring him out of his "shell" as they called it. Kept on telling him it was okay to be serious, but to also have fun.
History At Hogwarts:
Edward was naturally sorted into Ravenclaw. He was a second year when the Golden Trio came to Hogwarts.
His first year in Hogwarts, he was determined to excell, to make sure he lived up to the standard his parents and his sisters have. He scored high all year round and found out he was second in the top scores of his year. His ending year grade in History of Magic ended up making him slide from first to second. Out of all the subjects in school, the one subject that Edward could not dredge interest in was History of Magic, and it was mainly how it was taught. He did try his best though, but ended up getting beat by another Ravenclaw by seven points in the final exam.
Second year Edward was just as focused on his studies, but also.. he started to observe people more often. He started to notice that when people talked, there was something else there. In truth, Edward wasn't a loner. He liked being in groups.. but mainly for the chance to observe. He got along well with everyone in his house for the most part, but was the quiet one, who just observed, paid attention to others. The more he paid attention, the more curious he got.
Third year was interesting for Edward. The Chamber of Secrets. He wasn't particularly afraid, but found this a perfect opportunity to really, truly observe his surroundings. Found himself interested and fascinated by the different reactions everyone had. And suddenly had questions that in his later years, he couldn't find the answers to.
Fourth year- This was the year he started being a bit more social. Whie everyone was suddenly fearful of the escape of Sirius Black. But others soon realized that if more than two people joined the group Edward was in, he would start going quiet and observing again.
Fifth Year- Odd year for him. Triwizard Tournament. His OWLS. The excitement of it all. The extra students. And then...
Fred and George Weasley. The Weasley Twins and Lee Jordan were anonymously getting others to try and sell "brain stimulants" to OWL and NEWTS students, and needed a couple "SeriousMinded Claws" to do some selling, as George had told him, "If a somber Claw tells you to buy something, you're willing to trust that one."
It was certainly a new and different experience for Eddie, and his sisters had kept on telling him he needed to lighten up a bit and have fun, so he took this as an opportunity to do so. Eddie, wanting to make some Galleons without having to bother or pester his parents, decided do it. And found a niche selling to others Barrufio's Brain Elixir... and making some good money. He also made sure to study hard for his OWLS. In the summer before his sixth year, he recieved an owl telling him he recieved 9 OUTSTANDINGS, pleasing his parents to no end. They were happy with his Exceeds Expectations in Divination and History of Magic, although he wasn't... but they understood that he didn't care for those classes, but did his best.
During his career chat with Flitwick, he realized that he wanted to be what his mother is. An Unspeakable.
Sixth Year: Another fascinating year for him, observations wise. The "supposed" return of Voldemort. The vilifying of Dumbledore and Harry Potter.
Seventh Year: NEWTS year. Voldemort was back. Fear was everywhere. That emotion nearly distracted him from his studies. He sort of became a shut in at that point, determined to do well in his NEWTS so he could become an Unspeakable. He ignored most of what happened during the year, paying attention briefly to some things, learning about most of what was going on outside from his parents letters. Eddie was truly disturbed however when he learned of Headmaster Dumbledore's death.
The subjects he excelled in were: DADA, Transfiguration, Charms, Potions, Astronomy, Arithmancy, Ancient Runes, Herbology, Muggle Studies.
He did good in: History of Magic, Divination (Although had no patience for it really)
He respected many of his professors for their expertise in their subjects- Flitwick, Snape, McGonagall especially. He had no liking towards Binns or Trelawney and only tolerated their classes.
Friendships: He got along quite well with most of the people he chose to talk to. Those that understood him really. When he interacted with others, it was generally one on one. When he joined study groups, he was quiet if the group was larger than two.
